Are we paying legislators to raise money 30 hours per week?

Respect the Office of the Presidency

I am astonished by the pure, personal hatred many U.S. citizens viciously express toward President Obama. Although I disagreed with most of President George W. Bush's policies, I never attacked him personally or in a disrespectful manner. Nor did I support those who did so. In fact, I often stated that, although I disagreed with him, I respected his continuing commitment to his principles. Those who continue to spew untruths and hate language about President Obama are behaving foolishly. Their continuing disrespect for him also disrespects the office of the Presidency. Their low-mindedness indicates they have no reasonable criticisms with which to disagree with him. They negate their input. I cannot even consider their positions as it appears to come from a fools. They immediately become irrelevant.

Republican Impact on Middle Class

I am confused by some members of the middle class who believe Republican policies will help them. Their policies are not just theory or concept. We have experienced those policies and practices for 8 years. The outcomes included loss of jobs, loss of homes, loss of investments and loss of a sense of safety and hope. Loss! The Republican policies that lead directly to those outcomes included deregulation of the banking industry and increased tax benefits to the top 2%. Why would we want to return to those same policies?

Abortions will continue, even if illegal

Anti-abortionists are poorly informed if they believe abortions will no longer exist  when they are made illegal. Abortions will continue. Today, as in the pre-Roe v. Wade years, people with money will utilize sympathetic medical doctors to safely and confidentially terminate an unwanted pregnancy. However, those without money or access to controlled and safe abortion clinics, will resort to other dangerous options. Examples may include, but are not limited to misuse of OTC, prescription, and illegal drugs, intense physical activity, accidents, getting beaten up, inserting knitting needles or metal clothes hangers through the vagina and cervix into the uterus, and whatever else they can conjure to terminate the pregnancy. Unlike the women with money, these women will may easily die from hemorrhage or infection.

The bottom line is that abortions will continue. The potential outcome depends on whether you have money or not.
